Safeguarding

We take safeguarding very seriously at St. Anne's. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Naomi Atkinson. Mrs Fitchie, Mrs Talarek, Miss Austick and Mrs Cook are also fully trained. Mrs DeMatteis and Mr Watson are the named governors for Safeguarding. Please contact us at school straight away if you have any worries about children's safeguarding. Some of the policies and documents on this page may be helpful.

Signs and Symptoms of Potential Abuse

We expect all members of our school community to remain vigilant to the signs and symptoms of potential abuse and report any concerns to our Designated Safeguarding Leads.  There are 4 main categories of abuse to be aware of;

  • Physical Abuse
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Emotional Abuse
  • Neglect

In addition to these 4 areas, the following Safeguarding issues are also high on our agenda;

  • The Prevent Duty (Radicalisation & Extremism)
  • Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
  • Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)
  • Children Missing From Education (CME)

Prevent Duty

As part of St Anne's commitment to safeguarding and child protection we fully support the government's Prevent Duty, and take guidance from Teaching Approaches to help build resilience to extremism.

What is the Prevent Duty?

The Prevent duty is the duty in the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 on specified authorities, in the exercise of their functions, to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism.
